A group of ten found guilty of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has convicted ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced charges of disseminating false claims regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to making malicious remarks about the pair's 24-year age gap.
The court issued suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has yet to be released.
A circulating unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's identity.
Their legal filing contends that Owens brushed aside any factual proof that refuted her assertions opting to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has regularly repeated these claims on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his lycée.
The two entered into matrimony in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
